This is Homoerotic Verlaine and Rimbaud, drawn by CLX! This is the 11th entry for the Homoerotic Homos From History Pin-Up Challenge.
CLX adds: “At first i picked Rimbaud for the challenge, but i couldn’t portray him without Verlaine, as they had a tragic passionated relationship.The poem in the background is written by Verlaine: “Le ciel est, par-dessus le toit”.
I wrote a few words to go with the drawing:
“Le poète déclame ses envolées lyriques, tel
L’ange dépliant ses ailes dans une grâce élégante”
In english, i can translate it this way: “the poet speaks his words like an angel spreads his wings: with grace and wonder”.”
